On August 7-10, the 9th international scientific-practical conference "Traditional Medicine: Ways of Integration into Modern Medicine" was held in Buryatia, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Center for Oriental Medicine and the 50th anniversary of the Institute of General and Experimental Biology SB RAS.
Among the 190 guests were Professor Ananda - President of the World Association of Mongolian Traditional Medicine, Mr. Lubayen - President of the World Association of Acupuncture and Moxotherapy Societies, Dr. Huang Ling - Deputy Chairman of the Association of Chinese Traditional Medicine.
For three days, reports of participants from 10 constituent entities of the Russian Federation and representatives of Mongolia, China, Romania, Switzerland, Austria, Italy were listened, there were a total of 59 foreign guests.
The third day of the conference was entirely devoted to the fasting. It is generally recognized that Buryatia has been the territory of active promotion of unloading and dietary therapy for 25 years. The Republic of Buryatia is unique in that it is here that at the level of the Ministry of Health this method is recognized as an effective method of treating and preventing diseases.
The Baikal seminar brought together reputable experts in the field of RTD such as Professor Maximov V.A., Muraviev S.A., Usova E.V. The Chairperson of the RDT section of the St. Petersburg GASTRO International Scientific Forum noted: “Thanks to the experience of recognition of the RDT by the authorities of Buryatia, we realized the importance of domestic scientific research, which acquired a new meaning not only in our country.”
The meeting of experts in the field of RTD was held in the village of Goryachinsk, which the whole world knows about thanks to the film "The Science of Starvation", shot by the French, and now the presentation of the book "Healing Fasting - Therapy of the Future" by the French author Terri de Lestrad has been held.
And this time, the Swiss state film crew participated in the conference, which creates a new film about the phenomenon of therapeutic fasting in Buryatia.
In other plenary sessions, the most relevant topics in the field of traditional medicine were raised, scientists shared the results of research in source studies and the pharmacology of traditional medicine, and doctors shared their experience and knowledge.
After discussing the reports, the conference participants decided to join forces in actively integrating the legacy of traditional medicine into world health systems.
There are a number of global problems in this area for the solution of which it is necessary:
- recognize that the centuries-old experience of traditional medicine deserves attention and should be studied and used in clinical medicine;
- support the activities of international professional medical associations with management and control functions;
- make proposals to government agencies on the legal regulation of the industry;
The World Association of Acupuncture Societies has invited colleagues from the Center of oriental medicine to undergo grant training in acupuncture within the framework of the government project “One belt, one path”.
